About Me

Thimo's Picture

I’m Thimo van der Vlies, a 23-year-old ICT & Media Design student at the Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven. I currently live in Helmond. I love to make designs, and I am beginning to enjoy coding more and more.
I choose ICT & Media design because I really like doing creative things, it makes me feel happy especially if I can help another person.
When I busy with my projects I dive in the deep and try to make the best thing I can at that moment...

I currently work part-time at Jumbo in the AGF department, where I’ve developed skills in customer service, teamwork, and time management.
I love doing my job that's why I work there for already 6 years and counting.
I’m eager to apply my knowledge in real-world projects and contribute to innovative solutions for ICT.

Last year I got sick with Crohn dissease, after finishing my 2nd year I took a gap year to recover and to find the right medicine.
Now that I feel good enough, I am motivated to find a internship where I can utilize my skills.

As for now I want to become a UI/UX Designer or maybe a Front-End Developer in the future.

  • Finished secondary school at Vavo Roctera: Higher General Secondary Education (HAVO), with a Nature & Health profile.
  • Currently, I am doing a bachelor degree of ICT & Media at Fontys University.

Skills

  • - = Bad / + = Okay / ++ = Good / +++ = Excellent

  • ++ HTML: Using it often for my education, I do know most of the important semantics.
  • ++ CSS: Using it often for my education, I know a lot about styling but not everything.
  • + JavaScript: Use it sometimes. Currently I am learning to get the basics right, so that I can explore more.
  • ++ Figma: Use it a lot, I am good with it but do not know all the trick do design even faster, this is something I am working on.
  • + Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign): Use it sometimes, have to look up most of the tools to use them in a good efficient way.
  • + Davinci Resolve: For an assignment I made a video of someone that repeats his experience the day. The video idea got good feedback from teachers as a first time.
  • + Photography: Made some very good pictures, a teacher told me that some could be stock images.
  • ++ User Research: From teachers I often get good feedback about my user research.
  • ++ UI/UX Design: Can make fast and good designs, after some iterations I hear good feedback from my teachers.
  • ++ Presenting (Powerpoint): Last year I changed the way of how a presentation is structured. The feedback from teachers is that I can present well.
